Canada Day Activites 2011

Activities on Evening of June 30/2011 at Centre 2000

  • Where: Centre 2000 Parking Lot- site opens at 7:30pm

THE REAFFIRMATION CEREMONY

  • Starts at 9:00 pm 
  • By celebrating citizenship, these ceremonies offer all Canadians the opportunity to reflect on their rights and responsibilities and to reaffirm their commitment to Canada.  The ceremony is a formal event where participants take the Oath of Citizenship to express their commitment to Canada. 
  • The Oath of Canadian Citizenship
    • Presentation of Reaffirmation Certificates
    • National Anthem
    • Closing of the Ceremony
    • Speeches

*Note: People who are citizens of other countries cannot be granted Canadian citizenship by taking oath at the reaffirmation ceremony. *

THE OUTDOOR MOVIE

Movie is weather dependent

o          Where: Centre 2000 Parking Lot

o          When:  At approximately 10:30pm

o          Family oriented

o          Entry by donation- all proceeds go towards the “Phil Currie Museum”

o          Bring your own lawn chair or blanket

o          Food is available on site

CANADA DAY FIREWORKS

  • Where: Muskoseepi Park
  • When:  Fireworks start at Midnight on June 30th

Activities on July 1/ 2011 at Centre 2000

PARADE

  • Where:  Starting at 94th Street and 108th Ave and Ending at GPRC Parking Lot A
  • When:  1:00pm – 2:30pm 

CANADA DAY CELEBRATION

  • Where:  Centre 2000
  • When:  1:00pm – 6:00pm
  • What:  – Hosted by G.P. Regional Tourism, Travel Alberta, and Heritage Discovery Centre- Balloon Animals, Cookie Decorating, Guess How Many, Bouncy Rides, Music, Kids Coloring Contest, Scavenger Hunt, Children’s Games, Food, Canada Day Cake, Fabulous prizes to be won!
