Grande Prairie to be Showcased on CTV Edmonton
You may have noticed a TV crew wandering around the city, talking to the Mayor, the President of Grande Prairie Stompede, and others of note, as well as taking some great shots of the local landscape. They were from CTV Edmonton and they will be featuring Grande Prairie on the 'Bridget's Alberta Adventures' segment of their 'Breakfast TV' show. This is in support of the 2013 Alberta Summer Travel Show being held April 27 in Edmonton. The video will air during the lead-up to the travel show and after we will be given a link that we can share. The link will be posted on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/GPRegionTourism, so make sure you 'Like' our page to be one of the first people to view it!
As mentioned above, Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association has a Facebook page! We have also opened a Twitter account! Connect with us at www.facebook.com/GPRegionTourism and @GPtourism to stay informed about what is happening in the Grande Prairie region. Our goal is to get a minimum of 300 followers on Facebook and as many as we can on Twitter. We also have random contests on Facebook (we just gave away a family rental and lift pass to Nitehawk!) so be sure to 'Like' us and tell others to do so as well. You never know what you might learn....or win!
GPRTA's gift shop has an excellent assortment of items to choose from for every gift giving occasion or if you feel like spoiling yourself. Soaps, dinosaur items, Grande Prairie t-shirts, keychains, magnets, locally made handicrafts, and much more! We are always getting new items in so periodically come down and see us. Are you interested in selling some of our Grande Prairie branded merchandise? We do offer wholesale pricing. Below is a picture of our Poopoo Paper - 100% recycled and odorless products made from poo! It's a gift that's sure to make them chuckle.
We have filled our three summer positions for the Grande Prairie Visitor Center's 2013 season. Maryann, Sara, and Brittany are looking forward to being the spokespeople for the Grande Prairie region and are excited to meet all the people coming through the center, both visitors and locals. Tourist season officially begins in May and will start off with training at Spring Showcase in Edmonton May 6-8. Just a reminder again to bring us your information to display at the Visitor Center as well as the many events we attend throughout the year!
We wish to welcome the new Minister of Tourism, Parks, and Recreation for Alberta, Dr. Richard Starke, who was sworn in on February 8, 2013. Dr. Starke is from north of Lloydminster in the Durness District. We would also like to congratulate Grande Prairie's very own Dwight Logan on his appointment to the Travel Alberta Board of Directors!
Board Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month (except August) at Center 2000. Here are the 2013 dates for your calendar:
