Though our Rotary Bus Tour to celebrate #TourismWeek had to be cancelled this year, we decided to still visit a couple of the scheduled stops – including the Bear Creek Cemetery.

Bear Creek Cemetery serves to memorialize many of Grande Prairie’s Aboriginal population who were decimated during the 1918 Spanish flu, after returning soldiers brought it from overseas. Drawing parallels to today’s global pandemic, it’s a tragic yet important part of the region’s history.

To visit for yourself, turn west into the approach across from the entrance to Wedgewood.
