ExploreEstablished in 1932 to protect Saskatoon berry bushes, Saskatoon Island Provincial Park was one of the province’s first parks. By 1933, the park was also recognized as a wildlife refuge for many different species, including the threatened trumpeter swan (in fact, the park is now a federal migratory bird sanctuary). In addition to its notable birding and wildlife viewing opportunities, the park supports plenty of outdoor activities, including camping and hiking. You can also go berry picking in the summertime.
