Alberta is a popular destination for golfing, with Golf Digest Magazine ranking multiple provincial courses on their Top Canadian Golf Course list. Representing the northern corner of our province, the Grande Prairie region’s courses are must-visits when adding to your golf course passport this year, known for their quieter yet expertly-maintained greens, longer days, and delectable homemade food. One of the region’s oldest courses, with ties back to 1929 and in its current location since 1965, The Grande Prairie Golf & Country Club is a championship course offering mature fairways that will put your skills to the test. Their restaurant patio is among the largest in the city, and serves up excellent food and drink all summer long – just check out their Facebook page to see what we mean.

The Pipestone Golf Club is 20 minutes outside of Grande Prairie and offers a great game for all levels of golfers. Ready to take on trees, water, and sand in your game? Pipestone has exciting challenges for you ahead. The course is also in the area of one of Alberta’s largest dinosaur bonebeds and is just down the road from the state-of-the-art Philip J. The Bear Paw Par 3 Golf Course is a fantastic 9-hole course, driving range, and campground that perfectly suits kids, families, and new golfers. Their Glo-Ball game – a glow-in-the-dark golf experience – was a huge hit last summer, so follow their Facebook page to avoid missing out on its return.

Bear Creek Golf Club and RV Park is conveniently close to town, and is a course that beginners, families, and professionals alike can enjoy. Their pro-shop, bar, and clubhouse are great places to stock up on all your golf goods, cold drinks, and delicious hand-helds! Visit their Facebook page where they announce golf specials, such as their weekend twilight rates.

The Dunes is known as one of “Alberta’s premier golf courses” and is a great game for avid golfers, golf veterans, and those looking for a challenge or to amplify their game. Located a short 10-minute drive out of the city, their impeccably manicured fairways are privately surrounded by boreal forest, making for the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle.
