You Gotta Eat Here

Grande Prairie Edition

You Gotta Eat Here

GP Region Foodie Highlights

On a scale of one to ten, how hungry are you right now? We’re guessing you clicked on a link about ‘best places to eat’ because you were thinking about snacking on something to begin with, so we’re estimating a baseline of seven, maybe even eight…?

Well, prepare to drive that hunger all the way up to 11 as we tease you with some of our city’s finest culinary treats.

If John Catucci ever were to bring You Gotta Eat Here! to Grande Prairie, this is the itinerary we’d recommend to him. Forget counting calories. Forget your diet. It’s time to indulge – Peace Country style.

Padrino’s Italian Ristorante

Best For: Date Night

We’ll start traditional. Padrino’s offers classic Italian cuisine with a wide range of wines from across the world to pair with it. From baked pasta dishes rich with bubbling cheese to tender red meats cooked just the way you like them, this is the perfect fine dining spot to take a certain someone you’re trying to impress romantically. Plus, Padrino’s is conveniently located in the Best Western Hotel in case you want to turn your date night into a date weekend.

Better Than Fred’s

Best For: Dinner and a (Live Music) Show

Winters might be cold in the Grande Prairie region, but that doesn’t mean we stop barbequing. Better Than Fred’s boasts an award-winning smoking pit, delivering all the succulent ribs, chicken, and pulled pork you need to go full beast mode and feed your inner carnivore. Is it pretty? Not always. Is it delicious? Unquestionably. Check out their upcoming shows. Assemble your crew here, lather on the barbeque sauce, and then enjoy the show.

The Lion’s Den pub

Best For: Feasting With Friends

Want to know what the infamous Dirty Mouthful is? Imagine a burger topped with pulled pork, ground chuck beef, crispy bacon, chipotle BBQ sauce, and a slice of jalapeno Havarti cheese. The burger names may be a little suggestive at the The Lion’s Den Pub, but it’s actually a great place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other meaningful occasions. At this community staple, the décor and atmosphere give a sense of home, and their menu offers regular prime rib carvery nights (pictured), as well as a year-round entrée of a AAA steak, served with a delectable blueberry brandy pan jus which… well, you just gotta try it!

Frontier Eatery & Saloon Ltd.

Best For: Seafood

There’s nothing better than dining out with those closest to you, and the Frontier Eatery & Saloon offers a wide-ranging spread of family favourites and a menu full of seafood specials. With a separate menu for kids and seniors, everyone is sure to find something they love. Our recommendation? Either try the ground bison Shepherd’s Pie for a lean twist on the classic, or throw restraint to the wind and enjoy The Bay Menu – the Lobster Spinach Dip is to die for.
