Our region is both a year-round destination and a part of a much longer travel corridor and scenic route to the popular seasonal destinations of Alaska, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. The major visitor gateways into our region include Edmonton in the east, Jasper National Park in the west and the famous Alaska Highway and British Columbia border in the north.
Three major highways (43, 40, 2) connect Grande Prairie to the rest of Alberta and Canada with direct connections to Edmonton, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

The Grande Prairie Airport provides passenger service with daily flights to Edmonton and Calgary for quick connections to wherever you’re travelling next.

Private bus services are available daily between Edmonton and Grande Prairie and is provided by Cold Shot. Depending on the provider, the service includes stops in Fox Creek and Valleyview.

Within the city of Grande Prairie, travelers can plan to explore by public transit, taxicab, or private rental from major national companies.
Muskoseepi Park, a parkland running through the heart of Grande Prairie, boasts over 18 kms of trails through the entire city from North to South, most of which are asphalt.
Beyond Grande Prairie
For travelers exploring beyond the city limits, transportation options are limited. Travelers arriving by plane or bus should plan to secure a rental vehicle from one of the major national rental companies located in Grande Prairie.
