Our region is both a year-round destination and a part of a much longer travel corridor and scenic route to the popular seasonal destinations of Alaska, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. The major visitor gateways into our region include Edmonton in the east, Jasper National Park in the west and the famous Alaska Highway and British Columbia border in the north.
Three major highways (43, 40, 2) connect Grande Prairie to the rest of Alberta and Canada with direct connections to Edmonton, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Muskoseepi Park, a parkland running through the heart of Grande Prairie, boasts over 18 kms of trails through the entire city from North to South, most of which are asphalt.

Just a short drive outside of Grande Prairie, Kleskun Hills is such a fun spot when you want to get outside without committing to a huge adventure. Think rolling hills, unique rock formations, prairie views and trails that are perfect for wandering and exploring. 🥾🌾
It’s one of those places that makes you stop and think, how is this basically in our backyard?!
Pack some water, throw on your runners or hiking shoes and spend an afternoon exploring — and definitely bring your camera because the landscape here is SO good for photos. 📸
✨ Why it’s worth the drive:
The scenery feels completely different from what you normally see around Grande Prairie, it’s easy to turn into a quick little day trip, and there’s plenty to explore without having to travel far.
