Your 5 – Day Indigenous Experience at Grande Prairie’s Traditional Pow Wow If you’ve ever wanted to step into a
Northwest Alberta is full of hidden gems, and we’re here to help you explore them. Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time, we’ve got curated itineraries for every kind of adventure, so you can experience the region your way.
Most waterfalls are remote with limited or no cell service. Please plan and prepare appropriately. Let someone know where you are going and when you plan to be back, with plans on what to do if you do not return at the intended time. There are potentially bears, cougars, lynx, moose, elk, and deer in the area; be sure to bring bear spray and know what to do in case of close encounter with wildlife. Do not attempt to get close to wildlife. Weather can sometimes be unpredictable, so bring the appropriate gear, first aid kit, food, water, and have adequate fuel for the duration of travel. Trail conditions change, and sometimes used by off road vehicles, so plan for appropriate footwear.
Water levels will vary depending on weather. Peak time to discover waterfalls is in the spring but be aware that wildlife is more active during this time. Summer and fall the waterfalls may be serene, gentle, or small depending on heat and drought conditions. Use caution if intending to swim in rivers with fast currents or undertow, be aware of rain conditions that can cause fast flooding, rocks will be slippery and sharp. Do not jump off waterwalls, venture beneath or swim directly underneath, as rocks are likely to fall, hidden hazards, risk of bacteria, strong currents, and lack of buoyancy in aerated water are real hazards. Waterfalls in the winter are frozen or non-existent.

A little spring reminder we probably all needed. 🌸
There’s just something about those very first flowers of the year… the kind you have to go looking for. Around the Grande Prairie region, that moment shows up at Kleskun Hills when the crocuses start to bloom.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to get outside and soak up this late but beautiful spring, this is it. ☀

The sound of live music drifts down Main Street. Kids are busy creating memories in the Kid Zone. Local makers line the sidewalks. Food truck aromas fill the air. One band finishes, another starts, and suddenly the day turns into a summer night you didn`t plan on leaving.
That`s the magic of festival season in the Grande Prairie Region.
Experience the Beaverlodge Art Walk on June 5 and discover the people, creativity, and community that make summer here feel so alive.
